The person most likely to buy from you is the one who has already bought something from you. Always strive to keep existing customers happy, especially when they can easily spread the word to other friends about your service and/or your product.
How do you increase your customer base? If you have found a way that results in sales – keep at it! Get as many customers as possible with the way that you know works. If a lot of your leads come from advertising in a grocery store – don’t stop.
One way to increase your customer base is to expand your horizons. First expand geographically – go farther than your immediate area. Maybe try advertising at a grocery store that is in the next county over. Use your tried and true sales method in those new areas to bring in more customers.
Then expand professionally. Look for a parallel business that you can connect with and send referrals to each other. For instance, if you are a realtor, connect with a networking group that has bankers, lawyers, and other professional members.
Address big, potential problems head on for your customers. Turn the negatives into positives. Be upfront with the information and strive to make improvements to avoid this problem in the future.
Let your customers know that you can and will help them. For example: If you work with people with credit problems, let them know right up front that you will keep their information private. Let them know that you still respect them and want to help.
Word of mouth referrals are a great way to get new customers. That means you need to keep your current customers happy so they talk about your business to many others.
