Realtors and other real estate professionals are constantly marketing and looking for more ways to market their businesses on a tight budget. Here are 6 things that can be added to your marketing plan without having to spend a lot of money. Once they are part of your business and life they will become habits that will help grow your business for years to come.
1. You don’t have to help every potential customer that comes to you. Find your niche, your area, your interest and build your expertise in that. It doesn’t hurt to refer someone to another agent if they don’t fit your niche. You can become the expert they refer people to if you have a clear niche.
2. Find some professional organizations or business networking groups to join and participate in. It’s good to find one in your specific line of work as well as one in a parallel line of work. If you can help the customer with other problems they will remember that.
3. Add other real estate professionals to your customer lists – maybe some that you have met at the professional organizations we talked about in #2. It will help you keep in touch with them and keep your niche expertise (see #1) in the front of their mind.
4. Become an integral part of the community you do business in by volunteering at organizations you are interested in. Are you or your children involved in sports or library activities? Is there a book club or historical society you would enjoy being a part of? What about model trains, gardening, or photography? Join a group that you are truly interested in; if you just join to meet people you will stand out like a sore thumb.
5. That organization you joined might give you the opportunity to sponsor an event or do something else that is civic/community minded. Then you can get your business info in front of the people’s eyes as well as support a good group.
6. Don’t be limited to the U.S.A. There are countries whose currency is actually stronger than the dollar; maybe you can reach out and find some potential customers in those countries. This would be a great opportunity for realtors with short term rental properties.
Do you see how many of these tie together and support each other? Go ahead and start with one or two of these ideas and build on them. A good foundation is always important.
