No American city was immune to the foreclosure crisis but some cities are recovering faster than others. These recovering metro areas did not see the same massive price inflation as housing prices peaked and are blue-collar towns with modest economies.
These Northeast and Midwest cities didn’t have the same housing boom so they didn’t have the same decline as other parts of the country. These areas include Buffalo, NY; Harrisburg, PA; Wichita, KS; and St. Louis, MO. Some parts of Texas also fared well during the crisis because of the strong presence of energy companies throughout the state, which provided some job stability.
