Some protesters from the Occupy Wall Street movement have occupied foreclosed houses in an effort to raise awareness and protest the greed of mainstream banks. The offshoot group, called Occupy Our Homes, is appalled at how the banks have essentially kicked families out of their homes and is determined to disrupt bank auctions and block evictions in about two dozen cities.
One Minneapolis homeowner lost his home after living there for 40 years. He owed $275,000 on his mortgage but the home sold at auction for only $80,000. Occupy Our Homes argues that the bank would have made out better in the long run by simply working with this homeowner to lower his payments. Instead, they chose to lose a significant amount of money by kicking out this longtime owner.
In Chicago, protesters took over a deserted home that had been severely vandalized, made repairs, and moved in a homeless mother and child, an evicted homeowner and a college student.

Anarchists are convinced that laws don’t apply to them.. they’re “above” the law. Naturally, there is an element within our current political structure that aids and abets this worldview. But as the immoral and extreme envy of this small group is displayed for all to see.. more people will harden their view towards anarchists and the far left.
